Family Entertainment Centre – Wynnum Road, Tingalpa


A development application has been lodged for a Family Entertainment Centre, within an existing warehouse, located at 31 Proprietary Street and Wynnum Road, Tingalpa.

Designed by Tonic Architecture + Design, the proposal seeks to re-establish an Indoor Sport and Recreation Facility within the existing warehouse, further extending the building to the south to facilitate the development. The proposal seeks to retain the existing building height (11m high), bulk and scale. The building façades will be rebranded with feature paint finishes and treatments to provide visual enhancements.

The centre will provide a variety of entertainment activities for a range of user types and ages, within an enclosed environment. The centre seeks extended hours to provide for all user times.

Hours of operation
The proposal seeks to open between 10am to 10pm from Monday to Sunday, however may be subject to change.

The proposal seeks to reconfigure the existing carpark arrangements to accommodate 61 car parking spaces (2 PWD spaces), 2 motorcycles and 4 bicycle spaces.  The proposal seeks to retain the existing vehicle crossover to Proprietary Street in a shared arrangement with the Robertson Gymnastics Academy.

According to the planners at Planning Insights state, “the proposed extensions will allow for a range of indoor sport and recreational activities aimed primarily at the ‘family’ sector of the market. Adequate on-site car parking, refuse storage and collection can be accommodated on site. The building will be finished with a range of sculptural features to enhance visual appearance and reduce bulk and scale”.

The proposal seeks to provide an additional 1,717sqm of gross floor area (GFA) to the existing 2,939sqm warehouse, resulting in 4,656sqm of GFA on the 5,930sqm site area.
