Classroom Building & Refurbishments – The Lakes College, North Lakes

A change to a development approval has been lodged for Stage 3 – Extensions (Class Rooms Building) to an existing Educational Establishment at The Lakes College P12 School, located at 2 College Street, North Lakes.

Designed by Mode, the proposal is for a new class room building (Block D), pedestrian walkway link and open learning spaces. The building will be maximum building height of 1 storey and accommodate teaching spaces and staff room space. One of the two existing demountable buildings will be reinstated in a new position.

The planners at John Gaskell Planning state, “The proposed built form of the building complements the existing and previously approved buildings on site and is of a high standard, consistent with the existing architectural design of the campus”. “The proposed development has a building form that is varied and the building bulk is reduced by design elements such as awnings, recesses, and projections, and a range of materials, colours and textures”.

The proposal includes 1,800sqm of additional GFA over the existing school on the 153,600sqm site.
