A development application has been lodged by Goodman Property Services, for a large Warehouse Distribution Centre, located at 7001 Robert Smith Street, Redbank.
Designed by Nettleton Tribe, the proposal is for a Freight Depot, which includes a large warehouse (office administration, ‘sortation’ and loading), truck workshop, truck wash and refuelling facility. The primary function for the proposal is for a state of the art parcel logistics, processing and distribution centre for South East Queensland.
Goodman Group is known globally and now in Australia for providing Amazon customized warehouses for their logistics, processing and distribution needs. It is not confirmed if this proposal is for Amazon.
The proposal warehouse has a maximum building height 2 storey (13.7m in height). The site fronts Robert Smith Street and ‘Estate Road’, a new local road along the southern and western boundary, separating the site from the waterway corridor (Brisbane River).
– Warehouse (46,735sqm of GFA)
– Office (1,586sqm of GFA)
– Vehicle workshop service area (331sqm)
– 335 car parking spaces
– 153 truck parking spaces
– Security fencing and access
– 5,555sqm of landscaping
– Sortation system for parcels and other products
– Internal control rooms
– Main office (southern side of the building)
– 30m awnings along eastern and western walls
– 56 roller shutter doors
Hours of Operation
– 24 hours per day, 7 days a week
335 car parking spaces (three (3) PWD spaces) and 153 truck parking spaces are provided, with two (2) driveway access locations along Robert Smith Street and four (4) access locations along the new local road. The site has extensive hardstand area and proposes internal driveway maneuvering on site, to separate distribution vehicles with the staff car park.
The planners at Urban Systems state, “in combination with the relief provided by the large awning areas, these architectural treatments, together with the purposeful location of the main office for the project towards the south eastern corner facing the future Estate Road frontage, provide for a building with considerable built form variety and visual interest”.
The proposal includes 48,748sqm of GFA, with 36% site cover over the 135,073sqm subject site (Stage 2a Redbank Motorway Estate).
