A development application has been lodged to expand the ‘Riverland’ tenancy, located at 167 Eagle Street, Brisbane City.

Designed by Buchan, the proposal seeks the extension of the existing entertainment and dining area of the Riverland tenancy, by incorporating e an activated three-tiered platform. The extented tenancy to the property boundary will  improve the appearance of the river edge and provide un-obstructed views to the Brisbane River.

This proposal will build over the open air existing car park, creating the tiered decking over the top, while retaining the car park capacity and operation. The Eagle Street pedestrian entry will be retained and a newventrance from the Riverwalk will be provided to improve accessability.

Urbis have provided and landscape design intent that provides a contemporary, sub-tropical environment for patrons and includes vertical planting improve the visual amenity and sub-tropical feel.

According to the planners at Urbis, “the proposal allows for a significant increase in the intensity & activation of this space whilst maintaining its existing car parking functionality. The sites frontage is clearly defined through a series of key architectural elements and allows for the free flow of pedestrians through and around the site”.

“Significant landscaping elements underpin the design of the sites river frontage. This flowing greenery, as well as wooden and glass architectural elements achieves an outcome far superior to the existing blank car park wall”.
