A development application has been lodged for a Retirement Village, located at 236-246 Queen Street, Cleveland.

Designed by Thomson Adsett, the proposal seeks a Retirement Facility over several interconnecting tiered buildings over sloping site with a 3 storey maximum building height (approximately 13m in height).

The buildings are configured to provide three central garden areas within proximity to both indoor and outdoor communal areas. The site will gain access from Queens Street, via an internal driveway that connects to the west of the site.

The planners at AJS Surveys state, “The development has been designed to present as a series of interconnected buildings with the primary community spaces centrally located within the development. The development will be completely integrated so that all elements of the development can be readily accessed by the residents by either interconnecting pathways, elevated walkways, ramps and lifts. The design intent is to create a sense of community where the residents can experience a village atmosphere and enjoy a lifestyle in their retirement years”.

The proposal includes 4,071sqm (42%) site cover across the 13,040sqm (1.304ha) site.
