Home4064Residential Tower - Railway Terrace, Milton

Residential Tower – Railway Terrace, Milton

A development application has been lodged for Multiple Dwellings located at 27-33 Railway Terrace, Milton.

Designed by Kris Kowalski Architects, the proposal seeks sixty six (66) short term accommodation units and one hundred and forty three (143) high density residential units within a residential tower that has a maximum building height of 22 storeys. The rooftop is proposed to include a publicly accessible bar and 2 retail tenancies on the ground floor.

Three (3) existing commercial buildings will be removed to facilitate the proposed development. The site is within the mixed use inner city zone and has frontages to Railway Terrace and a rail corridor, in particular Milton Train Station.

Development Mix
– Sixteen (16) x 1 bedroom apartment
– Forty Two (42) x 2 bedroom apartments
– Eighty three (83) x 3 bedroom apartments
– One (1) x 4 bedroom apartment
– Thirty Six (36) Hotel Rooms (Short Term)
– Thirty (30) Smart Apartments (Short Term)
– Retail 1 (72sqm)
– Retail 2 (184sqm)
– Club/Office (510sqm)

The development is formally applied for Multiple Dwellings (143 units), Centre Activities (Club, Food and Drink Outlet, Health care service, Office, Shop and Short-term Accommodation), Bar and Hotel.

The proposal provides private open space in the form of balconies and includes communal open space (625sqm of area) in a rooftop terrace. The communal area incudes outdoor dining areas, swimming pool, barbeques, indoor gym and planter boxes.

The proposal provides 241 car park spaces (199 residential and 22 visitor and 20 short term accommodation car parking spaces) and bicycle spaces within the four (4) basements. Vehicle and pedestrian access is proposed via Railway Terrace.

The planners at Urbis state “the existing height limit of 15 storeys for a Code Assessable application is considered to create a disjointed visual appearance where located adjacent to the approved 30-storey ‘The Milton’ development. Providing a more stable transitional reduction in building height through 22 storeys, rather than 15 storeys, will contribute to a skyline that is in keeping with the desired scale of an inner-city area, and transit-orientated development adjoining the Milton Railway Station”.

A total GFA of 19,100sqm is proposed, with 100% site cover of the 1,595sqm development site.
