Demolition Commences – Former Oxley Secondary College

Demolition is set to begin on the former Oxley Secondary College site, with Rosenlund Deconstruction Civil Engineering appointed to remove all existing infrastructure and buildings from the site.

Following a competitive tender process, Cameron Dick, Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning, announced Rosenlund as the successful company, which has large-scale demolition experience.

“The company is committed to the health and safety of workers, residents and local businesses, and will carry out their work with minimal impact on the surrounding environment”. “We have also engaged a licensed sub-contractor for the removal and cartage of identified asbestos from the site – works which will be undertaken in accordance with all relevant acts, regulations and guidelines”, Mr Dick said

Jess Pugh, Member for Mount Ommaney outlined consultation with Oxley residents will ensure the best possible outcome for the community.

“This redevelopment is an exciting urban renewal that will transform the site into a space the entire community can be proud of”. “These demolition works are the start of what will become a beautiful development for our growing area”.

“When works are completed, the 19-hectare site will offer a community hub, sport and playing fields, and will see the relocation of the Yuingi childcare centre to higher ground”. “Additionally, it will also feature space for 74 residential homes, with a large average block size of 800 square metres.” Ms Pugh said.

Redevelopment Commitments
– Preserve high value vegetation
– Remediate and protect the landslip prone area
– Detached houses only on average 800m2 lots
– Flood free child care centre
– Aged care/retirement precinct

Neil Rosenlund, Managing Director of Rosenlund Deconstruction Civil Engineering outlined the residents neighbouring the site can expect perimeter fencing and temporary office to be established next week.

“We will then begin to disconnect services, install environmental controls and tree protections,” Mr Rosenlund said.
