New Classrooms & Library – Mary MacKillop College, Nundah
A development application has been lodged for a new Education Building (Class Rooms and Library) to the existing Educational Establishment of Mary MacKillop College, located at 60 Bage Street, Nundah.
Designed by Diecke Richards the proposal seeks a new building to include new flexible classrooms, tuckshop, Library temporary gym, student and staff amenities positioned to the north western portion of the site redeveloping the vacant corner of the site.
A new pedestrian school entrance will be created from Buckland Road, providing a non-discriminatory pedestrian access via a wide ramp and stairs to a the north of the school. The new entrance will provide a safer and more inviting link through the College.
The school will be provide 22 car parking spaces and access from Donkin Street and the existing demountable buildings are to be removed prior to the construction of the new three-storey building.

The planners at Duggan & Hede state, “The development does not introduce a new use into the neighbourhood, instead it provides additional on-site services and facilities for the existing school. The development does not adversely impact on glare, odour, light, noise, traffic, parking, servicing or hours of operation given the site currently operates as an existing
educational facility, with the new building works located within the College campus. No increase in staff or students are associated with the development”.
The proposal adds 1,477sqm of gross floor area to the 13.37 ha site.
