Murphy Road to be Upgraded & Roundabout Signalised – Design Phase to commence
Brisbane City Councillor Fiona King (Marchant Ward) has announced (via facebook) the existing roundabout at Murphy Road and Ellison Road will be replaced by a signalised intersection (see link).
The reported $37 million project would commence the design phase in December 2016 with Council undertaking investigation works within the road reserve along Murphy Road in the lead up to Christmas 2016.
Brisbane City Council has not outlined this upgrade within the Current road and intersection upgrades section on its website, however the Brisbane City Council Local Roads Network Schedule of Works for Future Trunk Infrastructure does outline Stage 1 of the Road Upgrade/Intersection Upgrade to be completed between 2011-2016.
The project proposes the following:
– Road widening adjacent to the intersection
– New cycle infrastructure connected to the existing bikeway network for improved cyclist safety
– Removal of the Roundabout
– Signalised Intersection
Works locations
– Along Murphy Road between Butt Street and Kittyhawk Drive
– Along Ellison Road between Coolah Street and Danette Street
– The Roundabout intersection
