Mixed Use Venue – Wandoo Street, Fortitude Valley


A development application has been lodged for a Mixed Use Venue that will accommodate a Function Facility, Food and Drink Outlet, Art Gallery, Cooking School, Office and Shop, located at 26 Wandoo Street, Fortitude Valley.

Designed by DC8 Studio, the proposal seeks to retain the existing two (2) storey commercial building which is proposed to be altered as part of the proposal to construct new building extension over the site and integrate the a new contempoary building facade into the design.

The proposed two (2) storey building seeks to co-locate the food and drink, office and shop land uses together education and community uses within a range of flexibly internal and rooftop terrace space.

The building facade and entrance includes a perspoke architectural design with variations in shape and material that proivdes a unique window and building form built to the boundary fronting Wandoo Street. 

The planners at Town Planning Alliance state, “The proposal seeks to reconfigure and extend the existing building footprint to accommodate for  additional land uses to support changing business needs and requirement from the immediate locality. The subject site is identified to be suitable to reflect Centre activity uses. The proposed works have been designed to reflect the intent and overall outcomes identified within the zone and
neighbourhood plan

“The proposal is identified as meeting the overall outcomes sought for both the zone and neighbourhood plan code. In particular, the proposal reflects a suitable non-residential development that provides retail, business and associated services situated over a well-located site near the entertainment precincts”.

The proposal includes 1,604sqm of gross floor area (GFA), with 927.9sqm (98.4%) site cover, over the 943sqm site.
