A change to a development approval has been lodged for the extension of an existing shopping centre, located on the corner of Logandowns Drive and the shopping centre entrance in Meadowbrook.

 

Designed by Cottee Parker, the proposal includes the expansion to the existing shopping centre on an adjoining vacant property located in the north, with a maximum building height of 2 storey (12.9m high). The new building seeks to provide a medical centre, shop, office and food / drink outlet (cafe) activities and new pedestrian entry to the centre.

The proposal will integrate with the existing car parking and pedestrian linkage to the south. The proposed building is to be constructed to the boundary of the site and will activate the public interface to Logandowns Drive.

The proposal seeks to increase the shopping centre overall car parking to 411 car park spaces within the open ground floor car parking areas. Vehicle access is retained to Logandowns Drive and Loganlea Road.

The planners at Place Design Group state, “the proposed development results in several changes to the existing approval that better reflect the current market demand of Meadowbrook, whilst also creating a higher quality built form outcome for the subject site. Specifically, the proposed development creates a highly activated frontage that promotes interaction between the subject site and Logandowns Drive”.

The shopping centre will increase to 2,361sqm of gross floor area (GFA) over the 28,117sqm (2.8ha) site.
