The planners at Urbis state that “The applicant, being a new owner of the site, seeks to reinvigorate the site as time permits, and when tenure arrangements allow. Ultimately, the revitalisation of the site will provide a more contemporary outcome that re-establishes the site as a landmark retail location, and re-establish a more cohesive streetscape appeal.”
“The proposal, while lending a contemporary flavour to the site, does pay homage to the site’s prominent location and its historical use of the site for an electronic advertising display. As seen at Figure 8 below the site has previously featured a Channel 7 news display. The current proposal to use the site for digital advertising evokes this historical activity”.
