A development application has been lodged for the redevelopment of the existing Brook Hotel, BWS Store and Accommodation, located at 167 Osborne Rd, Brookside Shopping Centre in Mitchelton.
Designed by Cayas Architects, the proposal seeks a Dan Murphy’s Liquor Store, Tavern and Hotel (Short-term accommodation) to the north of the development site, with car parking positioned to the centre and the shopping centre has designated the balance land for future development.
The Dan Murphy’s Liquor Store will front Osborne Road, with the Tavern and Hotel (Short-term accommodation) facing the Kedron Brook Creek Corridor and be redeveloped over 4 stages. The proposal requires the demolition of all structures, car parking and internal driveways to facilitate the development across the site.
The proposal seeks to improve the existing aesthetics with contemporary new building design and provide a vibrant dining and entertainment precinct. The proposal seeks a major redevelopment to revitalise the northern edge of the Brookside Shopping Centre in Mitchelton.

The built form is considerate of the urban village setting and surrounding residential and commercial uses. The
proposed development is therefore consistent with the purpose and overall outcomes of the Major centre and District centre zones”.
The proposal seeks to removal all built form and provide 5,483sqm of gross floor area (GFA) on the 1.53ha site.
