Designed by Brand and Slater Architects, the proposal is for the extension to the existing clubhouse sought in two (2) stages, Stage 1 increase of internal GFA of 434sqm and external GFA of 66sqm. Stage 2 increase of internal GFA of 308Ssqm and external GFA of 170sqm.
The overall works will include the following:
- storm water quality improvements,
- minor reduction of on-site car parking
- better integration with the sports field
- coffee lounge,
- redesigned sports bar,
- sports lounge,
- outdoor dining,
- external landscaping and
- sports decks
The planners at Wolter Consulting outlines that “the proposal concept features architecturally designed extensions and improvements to the structure and façade of the existing facilities to enable increased patronage and the suite of services provided”. It is stated that there are 2 key planning grounds in support of the proposal, that the development “responds to a community need by increasing the use of the land for, and nexus between the Sport and Recreation component (Football Club) and supporting Club component, by allowing for the amendments to the Club layout including increased overlooking of the sports field. The proposed uses/activities will not generate any new/increase potential impacts which would need to be mitigated by existing or future industrial uses on adjoining properties that would render the proposal”.
The application seeks to increase the patrons and supporters comfort while watching the AFL games and is it proposed that this development will bring the games closer to the facilities offered at the club. The extensions are towards the open playing field, with shaded area provided.
