A development application has been lodged for a Childcare Centre, located at 658 Underwood Road, Rochedale.
Designed by ISA Architecture, the proposal seeks a single storey childcare centre over the site, with a maximum building height (under 7.08m high). The proposal seeks a horseshoe shape surrounding the outdoor play area with activity rooms along the side boundaries.
The centre will be located in the southern half of the site, between the waterway corridor and road dedication. The proposal will demolish an existing dwelling house and structures to facilitate the redevelopment.

The proposed child care centre includes 30 car parking spaces (one (1) PWD) within an open car park area. All vehicle and pedestrian path access is provided to Underwood Road.
The planners at HPC Planning state, “The proposed development will see the conversion of the subject site from the underutilised large-lot residential property into an urban Childcare Centre. The development will occur in an orderly sequence, allowing for future upgrades to Underwood Road and responding to childcare demand created by the established residential area to the south and emerging residential areas in Rochedale”.
“The proposal therefore addresses the local need in accordance with the zone’s overall outcome (f). A Structure Plan (Appendix B) for the site and immediate surrounds has been prepared to demonstrate the area’s
development potential“.
