A development application has been lodged for Ansett Aviation Training for a Flight Training Facility, within the existing warehouse tenancy, located at 21 Brownlee Street, Pinkenba
Designed by JMH Project Management, the proposal is for a Air Service (Flight Training Facility), which involves an internal fit-out of an existing commercial tenancy and the installation of three (3) state of the art flight simulators within the single storey building (less than 15m in height).
The proposal seeks to provide commercial airline pilots in Brisbane domestic and international a training, in a facility with flight simulations currently in operation throughout Australia and the Asia Pacific Region.
On 2 February 2018, Ansett Aviation Training announced the relocation two (2) existing Ansett-operated simulators from Melbourne. The relocation of the Dash-8 and Fokker F-100 simulators is aimed to provide improved access to the certain types. The facility is proposed to be opened in June 2018 with the ATR 72-600 simulator installed shortly after.
The Queensland Government ‘Industry Attraction Fund’ supports the facility as it has the potential to accommodate further simulators in the future, with the expansion of the Brisbane Airport. David Garside, Ansett’s Chief Executive Officer stated, “Ansett has been rapidly expanding overseas recently but we have also continued to significantly invest to support training in the Australian market during this time. Our customers have long asked for us to operate additional simulators in other Australian cities outside of Melbourne and we are delighted to announce our new Brisbane Centre, which will achieve this aim.”
