A development application has been lodged for Multiple Dwellings, located 8 -12 Augstein Street & 977-981 Boundary Road Coopers Plains.

Designed by John McDonald, the proposal seeks forty (40) 2 bedroom units of a medium density arranged in 3 buildings, with a maximum building height of three (3) storeys (less than 9.5m high). The proposal is within a low-medium density zone and will remove the five (5) dwellings to facilitate the development.

– Ground Level – Fifteen (15) x2 bedrooms units
– Level 2 – Fifteen (15) x2 bedrooms units
– Level 3 – Ten (10) x2 bedrooms units

Each dwelling is provided with private open space in the form of verandah’s that have been positioned outwards along the site boundaries, with an internal common courtyard spine providing residents informal connections. The proposal includes 268sqm of communal open space to the south of the site, which includes barbeque area, swimming pool, amenities and seating.

58 car spaces (53 resident spaces + 5 visitor spaces) are provided within a single level of basement. Access to the proposal is provided via an internal common driveway that connects to Augstein Street.

The planners at Oasis Town Planning state, “The proposed varied building height will also contribute to varied façade and built form, and will create an attractive streetscape and address the corner truncation. The design includes clustering of groups of apartments and provides appropriate separation between clusters, to break up the built form. Sufficient setbacks of 4.0m between three storey components and 7.8m between three and two storey buildings are provided”.

The proposal is for 4,131sqm of gross floor area (GFA), includes a site cover of 1,588sqm (49%) over the 3,283sqm subject site. Separate pedestrian accesses are available from both Augstein St and Boundary Road
