A development application for a Skate Facility in Dorrington Park has been lodged, located 5 Mirrabooka Road, Ashgrove.
Designed by City Projects Office the proposal is for a new Skate Facility (Park) with approximately 313sqm of hard stand area, including skate park features including rails, jumps as well as other park embellishments, located in the north-eastern portion of Dorrington Park adjacent to the existing basketball half-court.
The project is part of the broader delivery of a number of skate facilities within Brisbane and will promote physical activity and usability for skaters of all abilities. The skate park is accessible via Breakfast Creek bike path or Frasers Road and will not be lit at night and as such will only operate during daylight hours.
– rails, ramps and associated park embellishments
– New path
– 3m working zone around edge of Skate Park
– connected to existing facilities
– One (1) tree is proposed to be removed
– Tree protection fencing
The proposed skate park detailed design will be complete post approval.
According to the planners at Ethos Urban, “the proposed development does not adversely affect areas of high-value biodiversity and ecological function. As a result, development minimises its impact on areas of environmental significance and minimises any loss of habitat or greenspace values elsewhere in the catchment. While a very minimal loss of open space is anticipated, this is balanced by the significant improvement to community health, recreational opportunity and quality of service.”
