A development application has been lodged for the refurbishments and extensions to the former Bowls Club, located at 352 Stafford Road, Stafford.
Designed by Design Thought Facility, the proposal seeks major renovations, extensions and rejuvenation of the former lawn bowls clubhouse. The Stafford Community Club will be the result of work transforming the site into a new vibrant entertainment facility for local residents to use.
– Large alfresco dining area (605sqm)
– x3 sign in reception areas
– x2 DOSA areas (144.5sqm)
– Amenities (40sqm)
– Upgraded kitchen
– Sports Bar
– Large Bar
– Gaming area (205sqm)
– Multi-purpose bowling greens
Hours of operation
10am – Midnight, 7 days a week
The Crushers Leagues Club propose to relocate their existing liquor and gaming licences to the club to facilitate the bars and gaming area for the customers. The bowling greens will be upgraded to synthetic turf enabling a multi-purpose space for additional recreational uses including lawn bowls.
The proposal retains the existing 54 car park spaces throughout the existing car park and vehicle access to Stafford Road and Tannery Lane. A new turn around area will be provided to the north western portion of the site, to allow drop of and internal manoeuvring. Pedestrian access is provide at 3 locations along various pathway linkages.
According to the planners at Planning Initiatives, “The proposed development does not seek to alter the lawfully approved ‘Club’ use of the site, with the proposed development merely seeking to
undertake refurbishments and extensions to the Bowls Club, including a new alfresco dining area with associated bar and kitchen area as well as the transfer of an existing liquor and gaming licences that was previously tied to a former Clubhouse in a nearby suburb that was recently closed. The addition of the proposed gaming machine area within the clubhouse will not result in any new uses occurring onsite. Therefore the proposed development represents an increase in the intensity and scale of the ‘Club’ use of the premises and does not result in the start of any new use of the premises”.
The proposal will reduce the total gross floor area to 795.5sqm on the 8,000sqm proposed lease area of the 59,360sqm overall site.
