A development application has been lodged for the Tavern, located 1000 Waterworks Road, The Gap.
The proposal seeks to provide a hotel (tavern) at The Gap Village Shopping Centre, with the internal fit out of the former Coffee Club (tenancy 34). The proposal seeks to preserve the existing building bulk, height and scale of the existing building and refurbish the vacant tenancy.

The existing 504 car park spaces of the shopping centre will be utilised for the Tavern. Access locations are retained to Waterworks Road and Glen Affric Street.
The planners at Urbis state, “it is considered that the Hotel (Tavern) proposal is consistent with the existing shopping centre and the intent of the zone and draft Neighbourhood Plan designation. The Hotel (Tavern) will provide a desirable new premises for locals to enjoy”.
The proposal retains the tenancy of gross floor area (GFA) on the 22,860sqm subject site.
